Ingredients
  

For the Marinade

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced can substitute with ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey maple syrup is a vegan alternative
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed coconut sugar can be used
  • 3 tablespoons bourbon whiskey or omit for non-alcoholic
  • 4 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce tamari can keep it gluten-free
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced can use garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper white pepper can also be used
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice can substitute with lemon juice

For the Salmon

  • 12 oz large salmon fillet, skin-on preferred skin-on retains moisture
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped for garnish, optional

How to Make Baked Bourbon Glazed Salmon

  • In a bowl, combine water, brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, and bourbon; stir gently until sugar is fully dissolved. Add garlic, ginger, lime juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Place the salmon skin-side down in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade generously over the salmon, cover it, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Strain the marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to simmer for 4-5 minutes until thickened.
  • Place the marinated salmon skin-side down on the baking sheet. Brush a third of the thickened glaze over the top and bake for 8-11 minutes.
  • Allow the salmon to rest for 2 minutes after baking. Spoon the remaining glaze over the top, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Serve with jasmine rice or a fresh cucumber salad for a complete meal.
