How to Make 4th of July Cake Pops

  • Prepare the Cake: Start by making the cake as directed on the box. Once baked, allow it to cool completely before crumbling it into fine pieces in a large bowl. Blend in the cream cheese frosting until well combined.
  • Form the Balls: Take at least 1 tablespoon of the cake mixture and roll it into a ball. Place the balls onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Chill the Cake Balls: Pop the cookie sheet with cake balls into the freezer for about 15 minutes.
  • Melt the Coating: Melt the white melting wafers according to package instructions. Stir in the tablespoon of coconut oil or shortening.
  • Insert Sticks: Carefully push a lollipop stick into the center of each cake ball.
  • Dip & Decorate: Dip each cake ball fully into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off. Immediately sprinkle with patriotic sprinkles.
  • Dry the Pops: Place the dipped cake pops upright into your drying station. Let them dry completely until the chocolate hardens.
