How to Make Buñuelos

  • Combine ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, leavening flour, and vanilla extract or orange zest until well blended and smooth.
  • Add milk gradually: Pour in the milk while stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
  • Heat the oil: In a large frying pan, heat a generous amount of oil over medium-high heat until small bubbles form around the edges.
  • Fry the dough: Drop rounded tablespoons of batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).
  • Drain excess oil: Remove the buñuelos with a slotted spoon and let drain on paper towels.
  • Dust and serve: Sprinkle with powdered sugar or a dash of cinnamon before serving.
