For the Cake Base

  • 2 cans (21-ounce) cherry pie filling can swap with peach or blueberry
  • 1 box yellow cake mix chocolate or vanilla mixes can also be used
  • 0.5 teaspoon almond extract optional; can replace with vanilla extract

For the Topping

  • 0.5 cup salted butter melted or cubed for topping

How to Make Cherry Dump Cake

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Stir ½ teaspoon of almond extract into each can of cherry pie filling, then pour both cans into the prepared baking dish.
  • Evenly sprinkle the yellow cake mix over the cherry filling, covering it entirely.
  • Melt the butter and pour it evenly over the cake mix, or slice into cubes and distribute them.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Optional: add a scoop of ice cream on top.
