  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts Cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil Can substitute with olive oil
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos Or low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey Maple syrup works for a vegan option
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil Avoid regular sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger Use fresh ginger if available
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar Can be omitted if desired
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Freshly ground preferred
  • 1 lime zest & juice Omit if lime isn’t your favorite

For Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds Toast for enhanced flavor

How to Make Healthy Sesame Chicken

  • Start by cutting the boneless, skinless chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes.
  • Prepare your white rice and green beans according to package directions.
  • In a large pan, heat avocado oil over medium-high heat for about 1 minute. Add chicken and cook until browned, approximately 10-12 minutes.
  • In the same pan, combine coconut aminos, honey, toasted sesame oil, ground ginger, minced garlic, rice vinegar, black pepper, lime zest, and lime juice. Cook for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Return the sautéed chicken to the pan with the sauce, stirring gently to coat the chicken.
  • Plate the healthy sesame chicken over prepared rice and green beans, and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

Keep a close watch on the sauce as it thickens quickly. Stir frequently to prevent burning.
