Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F, ensuring it's ready for the pretzel crust.
  • Combine 6 oz of strawberry Jell-O with 2 cups of boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
  • Place 2 cups of salted pretzels in a sturdy Ziploc bag and crush them into coarse pieces with a rolling pin.
  • Melt 12 Tbsp of unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, then add 1/4 cup of sugar, stirring until combined.
  • Stir the crushed pretzels into the butter-sugar mixture. Transfer to a 13x9 glass casserole dish, pressing evenly. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool.
  • In a bowl, use an electric mixer to beat 8 oz of softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup of sugar until fluffy. Gently fold in 8 oz of Cool Whip.
  • Spread the cream mixture over the cooled pretzel crust, sealing edges tightly. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Hull and slice 1 lb of fresh strawberries, mixing them into the cooled Jell-O once it reaches room temperature.
  • Pour and spread the strawberry Jell-O mixture evenly over the chilled cream layer. Refrigerate until the Jell-O is set, about 2 to 4 hours.
  • Optional: Garnish with extra sliced strawberries before serving.
