For the Cake

  • 1 box white cake mix

For the Jello Mixture

  • 1 pack strawberry jello mix
  • 1 cup water for dissolving jello

For the Topping

  • 1 container (8 ounces) cool whip
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries optional, for garnish

Preparation Steps

  • Prepare the white cake mix according to the package instructions. Bake in a 9x13 inch pan until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool the cake for 10-15 minutes. Poke holes throughout the cake with a straw.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil over medium heat.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in the strawberry jello mix until fully dissolved.
  • Add 1/2 cup of cold water to the jello mixture and stir well.
  • Pour the jello into the holes in the cake and let it soak in.
  • Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Spread the cool whip over the top of the chilled cake before serving.

Notes

Garnish with additional fresh strawberries and mint leaves for added freshness.
