  • 3 bags black tea family-sized
  • 1 cup granulated sugar sweetens the tea

How to Make Sweet Iced Tea

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Dunk the tea bags a few times into the hot water, then let it steep for 5 minutes before removing the bags.
  • Add the cup of granulated sugar into the hot tea base and stir until completely dissolved.
  • Pour the tea base into a 1-gallon pitcher.
  • Add 3 quarts of cold water to the tea base and stir gently.
  • Refrigerate the sweet tea for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Serve chilled in ice-filled glasses, garnished with mint leaves or lemon slices if desired.

Notes

For an added twist, a splash of sparkling water can enhance the beverage.
