  • 2-3 pounds Corned Beef Brisket Choose for a tender and flavorful base.

For the Aromatics

  • 1 large Onion Cut into quarters.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 2 leaves Bay Leaves Remove before serving.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Peppercorns
  • 0.5 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 0.5 teaspoon Coriander Seeds
  • 4 cloves Whole Cloves

For the Veggies

  • 1 small head Cabbage Cut into six wedges.
  • 3 medium Potatoes Peeled and quartered.
  • 3 medium Carrots Cut into thick slices.

Finishing Touches

  • Salt and Pepper Adjust to taste.
  • Mustard or Horseradish Serve on the side.

How to Make Corned Beef and Cabbage

  • Prepare the pot by placing the corned beef brisket in a large pot and adding enough water to cover the meat.
  • Add onion, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, mustard seeds, coriander seeds, and whole cloves. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer and cover the pot.
  • Cook the brisket for 2 to 2.5 hours until fork-tender.
  • Add the potatoes and carrots, cooking for 10-15 minutes until they start to soften.
  • Add the cabbage wedges on top of the veggies, cover, and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove the beef and vegetables, slice the brisket, and serve hot with mustard or horseradish.

Notes

For added flavor, sprinkle fresh parsley over the dish before serving.
