  • 2 tablespoons chili paste like sambal oelek or sriracha, to taste
  • 4 cloves garlic minced, fresh is best
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar apple cider vinegar can be substituted
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional for thickening

How to Make Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

  • Place the boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts in the bottom of a slow cooker, ensuring they are layered evenly.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the low-sodium soy sauce, honey, tomato paste, chili paste, minced garlic, and rice vinegar.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in your slow cooker, ensuring each piece is coated.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours or HIGH for 2-3 hours until cooked through.
  • If possible, flip the chicken halfway through cooking for even flavor.
  • After cooking, remove the chicken and whisk in cornstarch into the sauce.
  • Cook on HIGH for an additional 15-30 minutes until thickened to your preference.
  • Optionally garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions before serving.
