Ingredients
  

  • - 250g unsalted butter softened
  • - 250g golden caster sugar
  • - 2 large eggs
  • - ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • - 500g plain flour
  • - 1 tsp baking powder
  • - Food coloring red, black – optional
  • - Halloween cookie cutters
  • - Writing icing red, white, black
  • - 200g fondant icing
  • - 1 tbsp apricot jam warmed

Instructions
 

  • Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
  • Add eggs, vanilla, and food coloring
  • Mix in flour and baking powder
  • Form dough, chill for 1 hour
  • Preheat oven to 170°C / 325°F
  • Roll out dough and cut spooky shapes
  • Bake for 12–15 mins, then cool
  • Decorate with icing and fondant

Notes

- Chill dough for easier handling
- Use fondant for mummy/skeleton details
- Food coloring adds a dramatic touch
