  • 1 head Cabbage chopped
  • 1 lb Sausage Kielbasa or turkey sausage
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

For the Seasoning

  • 1 tsp Salt to taste
  • 0.5 tsp Pepper freshly ground
  • 1 tsp Paprika optional
  • 0.5 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes to taste

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 cup Bell Peppers sliced
  • 1 cup Carrots thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cup Fresh Herbs such as parsley or thyme

Preparation Steps

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic. Cook until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Toss in the sliced sausage, cooking until browned and slightly caramelized, which should take around 5-6 minutes.
  • Gradually add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to combine everything, cooking until cabbage starts to wilt, approximately 4-5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle in salt, pepper, paprika, and crushed red pepper flakes. Stir to coat all ingredients evenly.
  • Lower the heat and cover the skillet with a lid. Cook for an additional 8-10 minutes until the cabbage is tender but still has a slight crunch.
  • If desired, toss in bell peppers or carrots during the cabbage cooking stage for extra flavors.
  • Once everything is well-cooked and seasoned, remove the skillet from heat and serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For easy cleanup, consider lining your skillet with parchment paper.
