  • 2 sheets nori (dried seaweed) crumbled; substitute with sea salt if needed.

Instructions

How to Make Sushi Popcorn

  • Start by popping 1/4 cup of unpopped popcorn kernels using your preferred method, whether it’s stovetop or microwave. You should have about 8 cups of fluffy popcorn to work with.
  • In a small saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over low heat. Keep an eye on it to avoid burning—your goal is smoothly melted butter.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine 2 sheets of crumbled nori, 2 tablespoons of toasted sesame seeds, 1 tablespoon of kosher salt, and 1 tablespoon of togarashi seasoning. This blend will elevate your popcorn with flavor!
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the freshly popped popcorn and toss gently to ensure every kernel is coated. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture on top, tossing again until everything is evenly mixed.
  • Serve warm in a large bowl for sharing or in individual bags for movie nights.

Notes

For best results, pop your kernels just before serving and store leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh and crunchy.
