  • 1 pound Russet Potatoes scrubbed clean
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced

For the Creamy Sauce

  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Whole Milk or half-and-half for a denser consistency
  • 2 Tbsp Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper adjust for flavor

For the Topping

  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese freshly grated

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a buttered 2-quart baking dish.
  • Scrub the russet potatoes clean and thinly slice them into uniform pieces, about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Mix heavy cream, whole milk, flour, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  • Layer 1/3 of the sliced potatoes in the dish and pour 1/3 of the cream mixture over them. Repeat twice more.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Uncover the dish and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top and return to the oven for another 5 minutes.

Notes

Optional: Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for extra flavor.
